Chinese actress Lu Liping
TV host Kevin Tsai (²Ì¿µÓÀ) has ripped into Lu Liping (ÂÀÀöƼ) for being a homophobe.
The actress retweeted anti-homosexual messages in her microblog (Weibo).
A faithful Christian, Liping praised her pastor friend’s posts, which say homosexuality is a sin and use words such as “shameful” and “sinners” to describe gay and lesbian communities.
Liping further encouraged her Christian friends to retweet the messages, even commenting the pastor’s words were “gelivable” (awesome).
Kevin, who has been a card carrying homo for years (and proud of it), said Liping should remember that a lot of the people she works with are homosexuals.
He added it is simply unacceptable to spread anti-homosexual views, no matter her religious views.
This is not the first time Liping and her actor husband Sun Haiying (ËﺣӢ) have agitated against homosexuals.
Haiying said during a 2007 interview that “homosexuals are sinners.”
This time, Liping’s unfriendly comments have triggered protests from various gay and lesbian groups, which are calling for a boycott of the couple’s works.
Many celebrities expressed support for homosexuals, while playwright Ningcaishen (Äþ²ÆÉñ) said gays and lesbians still lack confidence — even though many of the top players in the mainly creative industries are homosexual.
“In this era, you are no longer disadvantaged groups. Come on. Be more confident, OK?” he wrote in his microblog.
